Hydrolysed collagen is said to have a positive effect on chronic musculoskeletal disorders.

The amino acids contained in hydrolysed collagen are natural components of bone, cartilage, skin and hair. These amino acids are available in bioavailable form, so they can be easily absorbed by your pet and incorporated into the above-mentioned body structures.

Recommended for osteoarthritis and dysplasia.

Several scientific studies have examined the effect of hydrolysed collagen in the diet of dogs with chronic musculoskeletal disorders (in Hannover, Germany) and concluded that the degree of suffering (e.g. discomfort when getting up and going up stairs) of dogs with chronic joint disease decreased significantly with collagen intake.

In addition to joint health, we have noticed a positive effect on our own pet’s coats and nails.

Collagen can simply be sprinkled over wet food (such as AltuDog, raw or canned meat). If you are feeding your pet dry food, we recommend wetting the food and then sprinkling it with collagen. You can spray it, or you can sprinkle it directly onto drinking water, let it sink and shake it after about 10 minutes. This way, it will dissolves and won’t pile up at the bottom.

We recommend mixing the collagen with a natural vitamin C carrier (e.g. rose hip powder), so the ratio of collagen to rose hip powder should be at least 2: 1.

It’s also great combined with the green-lipped mussel powder.

The recommended amount of collagen is 1 g per 5 kg body weight per day for dogs and cats.

As with many supplements, the effect usually begins after consuming it for some time.
